[377] The Fully Enlightened One (sambuddha) named Sumana, the Leader of the World, arose;
with a confident mind (citta), joyful (sumana), I venerated the sattapaṇṇi tree.
In the hundred-thousandth eon (kappa) from the present one, I venerated the sattapaṇṇi tree;
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of venerating the sattapaṇṇi.
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away; all existences (bhava) have been rooted out;
like an elephant that has severed its bond, I dwell free of taints (āsava).
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Sattapaṇṇiya speak these verses.
