To the Buddha Padumuttara, compassionate toward all the world —
to him I gave a bed (sayana) with a mind serene and confident.
By that gift of a bed — as seed sown in a fertile field comes to excellence —
wealth is produced for him: this is the fruit of the bed.
I make my bed in the sky; I uphold this earth;
mine is sovereignty over living beings: this is the fruit of the bed.
In the five-thousandth aeon (kappa) there were eight great heroes;
in the thirty-four-hundredth aeon, just four of great strength.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized: the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Sayanadāyaka spoke these verses.
