[232] The bull, the most excellent, the hero,
Vessabhū, the victorious one —
with a confident mind, glad at heart,
I paid homage to that best of Buddhas.
In the thirty-first aeon (kappa) from now,
such was the deed I did then:
I know of no bad destination —
this is the fruit of paying homage.
In the twenty-fourth aeon
there was one named Vigatānanda,¹
endowed with the seven treasures,
a wheel-turning monarch (cakkavatti) of great power.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been done.
Thus indeed the Venerable Ekavandaniya Thera spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of Ekavandaniya Thera is concluded.
