[312] The cave (pabbhāra) of the Blessed One Piyadassī was cleansed by me,
and I set in place a water-jar for the use of the Stable One (tādī).
The Buddha Piyadassī, the Great Sage, made this prediction concerning me:
"With a thousand sections and a hundred orbs,¹ festooned with banners, wrought of gold,
#1 M. reads "satabheṇḍu."
that palace (yūpa) shall come into being, together with treasure in no small measure."
Having given the gift of the cave, I rejoiced in heaven for an eon (kappa).
In the thirty-second eon from now there was a khattiya named Subuddha,¹
a wheel-turning monarch (cakkavatti) endowed with the seven jewels, of great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Pabbhāradāyaka the Elder spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Pabbhāradāyaka is concluded.
Summary (Uddāna)
The filament (kesara), the scent, and the food, the Dhamma-perception, and "by the fruit,"
the giver of gladdening confidence and the giver of a park, the plasterer, the one who perceived the Buddha,
and the giver of the cave: fifty-one verses have been proclaimed.
