[58] I gave almsfood (piṇḍapāta) to the Buddha Padumuttara,
having gone to an unsoiled place encircled with jasmine flowers (mallikā).
Seated upon that seat, the Buddha, the supreme leader of the world,
upright and concentrated, extolled that almsfood:
"Just as, when even a little seed has been sown in a good field,
and [the rain-cloud] duly bestows its stream, the fruit delights the farmer,
even so this almsfood, sown by you in an excellent field,
will delight you with its fruit in the existence in which you are reborn."
Having said this, the Fully Awakened One named Jalajuttama ["Supreme Lotus"]
took the almsfood and departed, facing north.
Restrained in the Pātimokkha and in the five faculties (indriya),
devoted to seclusion (paviveka), I dwell free of taints (āsava).
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been done.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Saparivārāsana speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Saparivārāsana is concluded.
