Having placed firm faith¹ in the true Dhamma of the Buddha Padumuttara,
who has compassion for all beings, I was one of upright view.
I presented a gift of lamps, encircling the Bodhi tree;
believing, at that very moment I made the lamps.
Into whatever womb I am reborn, be it the state of a deva or of a human,
they hold aloft a torch in the sky: this is the fruit of the gift of lamps.
Through walls², through rock, passing over and beyond the mountain,
I experience vision for a hundred yojanas all around.
By that remainder of kamma I have attained the destruction of the taints (āsava);
I bear my final body in the dispensation of the Lord of the Two-Footed.
In the thirty-fourth hundred of aeons (kappa) there were kings bearing the name Satacakkhu,
wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavattī) of great majesty and great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
It was thus that the Venerable Elder Pañcadīpaka spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Pañcadīpaka is concluded.
