[77] By name he was Khaṇḍa, the chief disciple of Vipassī;
a single alms-offering was given by me to him, the recipient of the world's oblations.
Through that confidence of mind (citta), O Lord of the two-footed, O Bull among men,
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of a single alms-offering.
In the fortieth aeon (kappa) from now there was a khattiya named Varuṇa,
a wheel-turning monarch (cakkavatti) endowed with the seven treasures, of great might.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed the Venerable Ekasaññaka the Elder spoke these verses.
