At seven years from birth
I went forth into homelessness;
with a serenely confident mind
I paid homage at the Teacher's feet.
Seven naṅgalakī flowers
I flung up into the sky,
dedicating them to the Buddha Tissa,
the ocean of boundless virtues.
Having with joyful mind honored
the path (magga) along which the Well-Gone One (Sugata) had walked,
confident, I then made the añjali (reverential salutation with joined palms)
with my own hands.
In the ninety-second aeon (kappa) from now,
since I did that deed then,
I know of no bad destination:
this is the fruit of honoring the Buddha (buddhapūjā).
In the eighth aeon from now
there were three named Aggisikha,
wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavattī) of great might,
endowed with the seven treasures.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā),
and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized:
the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Elder Gatasaññaka spoke these verses.
