[85] Seated at the root of a tree, gravely afflicted by illness,
I had come to a state deserving the utmost compassion, in the wilderness, in the vast forest.
Out of compassion the Teacher, Tissa, came to me;
and I, even as I lay there, raised my joined palms (añjali) to my head.
With a mind (citta) full of confidence, glad at heart, having paid homage to the Fully Enlightened One (sambuddha),
supreme among all beings, I passed away on that very spot.
In the ninety-second aeon (kappa) from now, in that I paid homage to the supreme among men,
I know of no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of that homage.
In the fifth aeon from now there were five, Mahāsikha by name,
endowed with the seven treasures, wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavatti) of great power.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized: the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Nipannañjalika speak these verses.
