When the Teacher named Tissa was walking on his alms-round,
I held up a ladleful of alms-food (kaṭacchubhikkhā) and gave it to the supreme Buddha.
Having accepted it, the Fully Awakened One Tissa, the foremost leader of the world,
the Teacher, standing in the street, made an expression of appreciation (anumodanā) to me:
"Having given a ladleful of alms-food, you shall go to Tāvatiṃsa;
you shall become the chief queen of thirty-six deva-kings.
You shall become the chief queen of fifty wheel-turning monarchs (cakkavattī);
all that your mind has wished for, you shall obtain at all times.
Having enjoyed that prosperity, you shall go forth, possessing nothing;
having fully understood all the taints (āsava), you shall attain Nibbāna, free from taints."
Having spoken thus, the Fully Awakened One Tissa, the foremost leader of the world,
the Wise One, rose up into the sky, like the king of swans in the air.
Well given indeed was my gift; well offered my accomplishment of sacrifice:
having given a ladleful of alms-food, I attained the unshakable state.
In the ninety-second aeon from the present, the gift that I gave then —
I know of no bad destination: this is the fruit of the gift of alms-food.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away; all existences have been eradicated;
like a she-elephant that has broken her bonds, I dwell free from the taints.
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of the supreme Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
The four analytical knowledges (paṭisambhidā), and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
It was thus, indeed, that the bhikkhunī Kaṭacchubhikkhadāyikā spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Therī Kaṭacchubhikkhadāyikā is concluded.
