[31]
Kakusandha, the great hero (mahāvīra), gone to the far shore of all dhammas —
withdrawn from the group, he went into the depths of the forest.
Taking the seed (vījavīja)[2] of a creeper, I wandered[3] about;
at that time the Blessed One was meditating in the midst of the mountains.
Having seen the God of gods (devadeva), with a mind of clear confidence,
I gave the seed to the wise one, worthy of offerings (dakkhiṇeyya).
In this very eon (kappa), since I gave that seed then,
I have known no bad destination (duggati): this is the fruit of the seed.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away; all existences (bhava) have been extirpated;
like an elephant that has sundered its bonds, I dwell without taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā) and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Vibhedakabījiya speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Vibhedakabījiya is concluded.
