[35] When the banyan tree (nigrodha), a tree gleaming green,
had grown to its full stature,
I took up a garland of flax flowers (ummā)
and offered it at the Bodhi tree.
In this very eon (kappa),
since I venerated the Bodhi tree,
I know of no bad destination (duggati):
this is the fruit of veneration of the Bodhi tree.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away;
all existences (bhava) have been uprooted;
like an elephant that has burst its bonds,
I dwell free of the taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming
into the presence of my Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained;
the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
The four analytical knowledges (paṭisambhidā)
and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized;
the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Ummāpupphiya the Elder spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Ummāpupphiya is concluded.
