[48] When the Blessed One Padumuttara, the one of great fame, had attained final Nibbāna,
I took flowers in a casket and set them in offering upon his body.
Having inspired serene confidence in my mind (citta) there, I went to the Nimmāna heaven;
and even when I had gone to the deva-world (devaloka), I went on doing meritorious deeds.
From the sky a rain of flowers rains down for me at all times;
whenever I come to birth among humans, I become a king of great fame.
There a rain of blossoms pours down upon me always,
through the power of the offering of flowers upon the body of the All-Seeing One.
This is my last; my final existence is now proceeding;
even today a rain of flowers pours down upon me at all times.
It was a hundred thousand aeons ago that I raised up that flower in offering;
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of the offering to his body.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burnt up; all existences (bhava) have been extirpated;
like an elephant that has burst its bonds, I dwell free of taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha;
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā), and these eight liberations (vimokkha) as well,
and the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed the Venerable Jātipupphiya Thera spoke these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Jātipupphiya is concluded.
