[59] Radiant as a kakudha tree, the god of gods, the bull of men —
who, having seen him proceeding along the street, would not have confidence?
Having destroyed the blinding darkness, having brought many people across,
shining with the light of knowledge (ñāṇa) — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
The Leader of the World, setting forth with a hundred thousand possessed of mastery (vasī),
lifting up many beings — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
Having beaten the drum of the Dhamma, crushing the hosts of the sectarians (titthiyā),
roaring the lion's roar — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
Having come from as far as the Brahma world, together with the Brahmās,
they ask him subtle questions — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
To whom they, together with the devas, having made the añjali salutation, come hastening,
and thereby experience merit — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
All the people, having gathered together, press their invitations upon the One with Vision (cakkhumā);
when entreated, he does not waver — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
When he enters the city, many drums resound,
and elephants in rut trumpet forth — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
When he walks along the street, his radiance ever shines forth,
and the elevated places become level — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
When the Buddha is speaking, he is heard throughout the world-sphere (cakkavāḷa);
he makes all beings understand — who, having seen him, would not have confidence?
In the hundred-thousandth aeon (kappa) from now I extolled the Buddha;
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of that extolling.
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away; all existences (bhava) have been extirpated;
like an elephant that has sundered its bonds, I dwell without taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha:
the three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā) and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been done.
Thus indeed the Venerable Sayampaṭibhāṇiya Thera spoke these verses.
