[7] In the city of Bandhumatī I was then a garland-maker (mālika);
having filled the fold of my garment (ucchaṅga), I went to the market street.
At that time the Blessed One, the Leader of the World,
was setting forth with great majesty at the head of the Saṅgha of bhikkhus.
Having seen the Lamp of the World, Vipassī, the one who brings the world across,
I lifted a flower from the fold of my garment and worshipped the best of Buddhas.
In the ninety-first aeon (kappa) from now I worshipped the best of Buddhas;
I know of no bad destination (duggati) — this is the fruit of worshipping the Buddha (buddhapūjā).
My defilements (kilesa) have been burned away; all existences (bhava) have been eradicated;
like an elephant that has burst its bonds, I dwell free from taints (āsava).
Welcome indeed was my coming into the presence of my Buddha!
The three true knowledges (vijjā) have been attained; the Buddha's teaching (sāsana) has been fulfilled.
The four analytic insights (paṭisambhidā) and also these eight liberations (vimokkha),
the six superknowledges (chaḷabhiññā) have been realized; the Buddha's teaching has been fulfilled.
Thus indeed did the Venerable Elder Ucchaṅgapupphiya speak these verses.
The Apadāna of the Elder Ucchaṅgapupphiya is concluded.
