The ear (sota) that is sensitivity (pasāda) derived from the four primary elements (mahābhūta), included in one's own person (attabhāvapariyāpanna), invisible (anidassana), impinging (sappaṭigha); by which ear — invisible, impinging — one heard, or hears, or will hear, or may hear a sound (sadda) that is invisible and impinging: this too is the ear, this too is the ear sense base, this too is the ear element (sotadhātu), this too is the ear faculty (sotindriya), this too is a world (loka), this too is a door (dvāra), this too is an ocean (samudda), this too is the lucid (paṇḍara), this too is a field (khetta), this too is a basis (vatthu), this too is the near shore (orimaṃ tīraṃ), this too is an empty village (suñño gāmo).
