[606] Which is that form (rūpa) that is internal (ajjhattika), not an object (ārammaṇa) of the feeling (vedanā) born of eye-contact (cakkhusamphassa) … of perception (saññā) … of volition (cetanā) … of eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa)? The eye base (cakkhāyatana) … the body base (kāyāyatana) — this is that form that is internal, not an object of eye-consciousness. Which is that form that is external (bāhira), an object of eye-consciousness? The form base (rūpāyatana) — this is that form that is external, an object of eye-consciousness. Which is that form that is external, not an object of eye-consciousness? The sound base (saddāyatana) … edible food (kabaḷīkāro āhāro) — this is that form that is external, not an object of eye-consciousness.
