[631] Which form (rūpa) is internal, not decay of form (rūpassa na jaratā)? The eye sense base (cakkhāyatana) … the body sense base (kāyāyatana) — this is that form which is not decay of form. Which form is external, decay of form (rūpassa jaratā)? That which is the aging (jarā) of form, decrepitude, brokenness of teeth, greyness of hair, wrinkling of the skin, the decline of the life span, the maturing of the faculties (indriya) — this is that form, external, which is decay of form. Which form is external, not decay of form? The form sense base (rūpāyatana) … edible nutriment (kabaḷīkāra āhāra) — this is that form, external, which is not decay of form.
