[840] Which phenomena (dhammā) are tormenting (tapanīya)? Bodily misconduct (kāya-duccarita), verbal misconduct (vacī-duccarita), mental misconduct (mano-duccarita) — these phenomena are tormenting. All unwholesome phenomena, too, are tormenting. Which phenomena are not tormenting (atapanīya)? Good bodily conduct (kāya-sucarita), good verbal conduct (vacī-sucarita), good mental conduct (mano-sucarita) — these phenomena are not tormenting. All wholesome phenomena, too, are not tormenting.
