[858] Therein, what is skill in the possible (ṭhānakusalatā)?
"Whatever phenomena (dhammā) are causes (hetū), are conditions (paccayā), for the arising of whatever phenomena — each such is a possibility (ṭhāna)": the wisdom (paññā) therein, the understanding (pajānanā), … non-delusion (amoha), investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya), right view (sammādiṭṭhi) — this is called skill in the possible.
Therein, what is skill in the impossible (aṭṭhānakusalatā)?
"Whatever phenomena are not causes, not conditions, for the arising of whatever phenomena — each such is an impossibility (aṭṭhāna)": the wisdom therein, the understanding, … non-delusion, investigation of dhammas, right view — this is called skill in the impossible.
