[1021] Therein, which are the nine stains of a person (purisamala)? Anger (kodha), detraction (makkha), envy (issā), avarice (macchariya), deceit (māyā), hypocrisy (sātheyya), false speech (musāvāda), evil desire (pāpicchā), and wrong view (micchādiṭṭhi) — these are the nine stains of a person.
