[1106] What is the measure of the lifespan (āyuppamāṇa) of human beings? A hundred years, or less, or more. What is the measure of the lifespan of the Cātummahārājika devas? Fifty human years are one day and night of the Cātummahārājika devas; by that night, thirty nights make a month; by that month, twelve months make a year; by that year, five hundred celestial years are the measure of the lifespan of the Cātummahārājika devas. By human reckoning, how much is that? Ninety hundred thousand years (9,000,000 years). What is the measure of the lifespan of the Tāvatiṃsa devas? One hundred human years are one day and night of the Tāvatiṃsa devas; by that night, thirty nights make a month; by that month, twelve months make a year; by that year, one thousand celestial years are the measure of the lifespan of the Tāvatiṃsa devas. By human reckoning, how much is that? Three koṭis of years and sixty hundred thousand years (36,000,000 years). What is the measure of the lifespan of the Yāma devas? Two hundred human years are one day and night of the Yāma devas; by that night, thirty nights make a month; by that month, twelve months make a year; by that year, two thousand celestial years are the measure of the lifespan of the Yāma devas. By human reckoning, how much is that? Fourteen koṭis of years and forty hundred thousand years (144,000,000 years). What is the measure of the lifespan of the Tusita devas? Four hundred human years are one day and night of the Tusita devas; by that night, thirty nights make a month; by that month, twelve months make a year; by that year, four thousand celestial years are the measure of the lifespan of the Tusita devas. By human reckoning, how much is that? Fifty-seven koṭis of years and sixty hundred thousand years (576,000,000 years). What is the measure of the lifespan of the Nimmānaratī devas? Eight hundred human years are one day and night of the Nimmānaratī devas; by that night, thirty nights make a month; by that month, twelve months make a year; by that year, eight thousand celestial years are the measure of the lifespan of the Nimmānaratī devas. By human reckoning, how much is that? Two hundred koṭis of years, and thirty koṭis of years, and forty hundred thousand years (2,304,000,000 years). What is the measure of the lifespan of the Paranimmitavasavattī devas? Sixteen hundred human years are one day and night of the Paranimmitavasavattī devas; by that night, thirty nights make a month; by that month, twelve months make a year; by that year, sixteen thousand celestial years are the measure of the lifespan of the Paranimmitavasavattī devas. By human reckoning, how much is that? Nine hundred koṭis of years, and twenty-one koṭis of years, and sixty hundred thousand years (9,216,000,000 years). These six sense-sphere (kāmāvacara) heavens, rich in all sensual delights— reckoned as one, how much is the lifespan of them all?
