On the occasion (samaya) when an unwholesome mind (citta) has arisen, accompanied by equanimity (upekkhā), associated with wrong view (diṭṭhigata), with prompting (sasaṅkhārena), … accompanied by equanimity, dissociated from wrong view, … accompanied by equanimity, dissociated from wrong view, with prompting, having form (rūpa) as its object (rūpārammaṇa) … or a dhamma as its object (dhammārammaṇa), or with reference to whatever [object it may be] — on that occasion, with ignorance (avijjā) as condition there is volitional formation (saṅkhāra); with volitional formation as condition, consciousness (viññāṇa); with consciousness as condition, name (nāma); with name as condition, the sixth sense base (chaṭṭhāyatana); with the sixth sense base as condition, contact (phassa); with contact as condition, feeling (vedanā); with feeling as condition, craving (taṇhā); with craving as condition, resolution (adhimokkha); with resolution as condition, existence (bhava); with existence as condition, birth (jāti); with birth as condition, aging and death (jarāmaraṇa).
