[576] Therein, what is right mindfulness (sammāsati)? Here a bhikkhu dwells contemplating the body in the body (kāyānupassī), ardent (ātāpī), clearly comprehending (sampajāno), mindful (satimā), having removed covetousness and grief (abhijjhā-domanassa) regarding the world; he dwells contemplating feelings in feelings (vedanā), ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world; he dwells contemplating the mind in the mind (citta), ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world; he dwells contemplating dhammas in dhammas, ardent, clearly comprehending, mindful, having removed covetousness and grief regarding the world. This is called right mindfulness.
