[596] Right view (sammādiṭṭhi) is a root (hetu); the seven path factors (maggaṅga) are not roots. [All eight] are accompanied by roots (sahetuka); [all eight] are associated with roots (hetusampayutta). Right view is both a root and accompanied by roots; the seven path factors should not be said to be "both roots and accompanied by roots" — they are accompanied by roots but not roots.
