[624] "Having established mindfulness in front (parimukhaṃ satiṃ upaṭṭhapetvā)": Herein, what is mindfulness (sati)? That which is mindfulness, recollection (anussati), … right mindfulness (sammāsati) — this is called mindfulness. This mindfulness is established, well established, at the tip of the nose or at the sign of the mouth (mukhanimitta). Therefore it is said, "having established mindfulness in front."
