[648] "Having abandoned these five hindrances (nīvaraṇa)": these five hindrances are stilled, quieted, fully calmed, gone to their end, utterly gone to their end, destroyed, utterly destroyed, dried up, utterly dried up, done away with. Therefore it is said: "having abandoned these five hindrances."
