[688] "With the complete transcending of perceptions of form (rūpasaññā)": herein, which are perceptions of form?
The perception (saññā), the act of perceiving, the state of having perceived, belonging to one who has attained a form-sphere attainment (rūpāvacara-samāpatti), or to one who has been reborn [there], or to one who abides in happiness here and now (diṭṭhadhammasukhavihārī) — these are called perceptions of form.
These perceptions of form he has passed beyond, surpassed, completely transcended. Therefore it is said: "with the complete transcending of perceptions of form."
