[689] "With the passing away of perceptions of impingement (paṭighasaññā)": herein, which are perceptions of impingement?
Perception of form (rūpasaññā), perception of sound (saddasaññā), perception of odour (gandhasaññā), perception of taste (rasasaññā), perception of the tangible (phoṭṭhabbasaññā) — these are called perceptions of impingement. These perceptions of impingement are stilled, allayed, calmed, passed away, utterly passed away, destroyed, utterly destroyed, dried up, utterly dried up, brought to an end. Therefore it is said: "with the passing away of perceptions of impingement."
