[718] Here a bhikkhu, on the occasion when he develops the path (magga) for rebirth in the form sphere (rūpūpapatti) and — with the fading away as well of rapture (pīti) … — enters and dwells in the fourth jhāna [on] the earth kasiṇa (paṭhavīkasiṇa): on that occasion the jhāna has two factors — pleasure (sukha) and one-pointedness of mind (cittassa ekaggatā). This is called the fourth jhāna. The remaining phenomena (dhammā) are associated with the jhāna.
