[774] Five training rules (sikkhāpada): the training rule of abstinence (veramaṇī) from the destruction of life (pāṇātipāta); the training rule of abstinence from taking what is not given (adinnādāna); the training rule of abstinence from sexual misconduct (kāmesu micchācāra); the training rule of abstinence from false speech (musāvāda); the training rule of abstinence from spirits, fermented liquor, and intoxicants that are a basis for heedlessness (surāmerayamajjapamādaṭṭhāna). Of the five training rules, how many are wholesome (kusala), how many are unwholesome (akusala), how many are indeterminate (abyākata) … how many are with conflict (saraṇa), how many are without conflict (araṇa)?
