[827] Therein, what is wisdom (paññā) for disenchantment (nibbidā) but not for penetration (paṭivedha)? The wisdom by which one becomes devoid of lust for sensual pleasures (kāma), yet penetrates neither the superknowledges (abhiññā) nor the truths (sacca) — this is called wisdom for disenchantment but not for penetration. That same person, being devoid of lust for sensual pleasures through that very wisdom, penetrates the superknowledges but not the truths — this is called wisdom for penetration but not for disenchantment. Wisdom in the four paths (magga) is both for disenchantment and for penetration. The remaining wisdom is neither for disenchantment nor for penetration.
