[840] Therein, what is the Tathāgata's knowledge (ñāṇa), as it really is, of the result (vipāka) of past, future, and present undertakings of kamma (kammasamādāna), by way of ground and by way of cause?
Here the Tathāgata understands: "There are some evil undertakings of kamma that, checked by excellence of destination (gati-sampatti), do not ripen; there are some evil undertakings of kamma that, checked by excellence of body (upadhi-sampatti), do not ripen; there are some evil undertakings of kamma that, checked by excellence of time (kāla-sampatti), do not ripen; there are some evil undertakings of kamma that, checked by excellence of endeavor (payoga-sampatti), do not ripen; there are some evil undertakings of kamma that ripen owing to failure of destination (gati-vipatti); there are some evil undertakings of kamma that ripen owing to failure of body (upadhi-vipatti); there are some evil undertakings of kamma that ripen owing to failure of time (kāla-vipatti); there are some evil undertakings of kamma that ripen owing to failure of endeavor (payoga-vipatti);
"there are some good undertakings of kamma that, checked by failure of destination, do not ripen; there are some good undertakings of kamma that, checked by failure of body, do not ripen; there are some good undertakings of kamma that, checked by failure of time, do not ripen; there are some good undertakings of kamma that, checked by failure of endeavor, do not ripen; there are some good undertakings of kamma that ripen owing to excellence of destination; there are some good undertakings of kamma that ripen owing to excellence of body; there are some good undertakings of kamma that ripen owing to excellence of time; there are some good undertakings of kamma that ripen owing to excellence of endeavor."
That which therein is wisdom, understanding, … non-delusion, investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya), right view — this is the Tathāgata's knowledge, as it really is, of the result of past, future, and present undertakings of kamma, by way of ground and by way of cause.
