[843] Therein, what is the Tathāgata's knowledge (ñāṇa), as it really is (yathābhūta), of the diversity in the dispositions (nānādhimuttikatā) of beings?
Here the Tathāgata understands: "There are beings of inferior disposition (hīnādhimuttikā); there are beings of superior disposition (paṇītādhimuttikā). Beings of inferior disposition associate with, keep company with, and attend upon beings of inferior disposition; beings of superior disposition associate with, keep company with, and attend upon beings of superior disposition. In the past time also, beings of inferior disposition associated with, kept company with, and attended upon beings of inferior disposition; beings of superior disposition associated with, kept company with, and attended upon beings of superior disposition. In the future time also, beings of inferior disposition will associate with, keep company with, and attend upon beings of inferior disposition; beings of superior disposition will associate with, keep company with, and attend upon beings of superior disposition."
That which therein is wisdom (paññā), the act of understanding, … non-delusion, investigation of dhammas (dhammavicaya), right view — this is the Tathāgata's knowledge, as it really is, of the diversity in the dispositions of beings.
