[864] Therein, what is obstinacy (thambha)? That which is obstinacy, being obstinate, the state of being obstinate, hardness (kakkhaḷiya), roughness (phārusiya), unbending straightness of mind (ujucittatā), lack of pliancy (amudutā) — this is called obstinacy.
