[878] Therein, what is deception (kuhanā)?
For one who relies on gain, honor, and fame (lābha-sakkāra-siloka), who has evil desires, who is overcome by desire: whether through what is reckoned as the use of requisites (paccaya) or through roundabout talk (sāmantajappita), or the setting up, the placing, the composing of the postures (iriyāpatha); the grimacing, the state of grimacing; the deceiving, the act of deceiving, the state of deceitfulness — this is called deception.
