[985] Therein, which are the five views (diṭṭhi)? Some assert thus: "The self (attā) is percipient (saññī), unimpaired (aroga) after death." Some assert thus: "The self is non-percipient, unimpaired after death." Some assert thus: "The self is neither percipient nor non-percipient, unimpaired after death." Or else they declare the annihilation (uccheda), destruction (vināsa), and non-existence (vibhava) of an existing being. Or else some assert Nibbāna in the present life (diṭṭhadhamma-nibbāna). These are the five views.
