[1021] S. Does one abandon gross (oḷārika) sensual lust (kāmarāga) and gross ill will (byāpāda) by the path of Arahantship (arahattamagga)? P. Yes (āmantā). S. But was not the attenuation (tanubhāva) of sensual lust and ill will declared by the Blessed One to be the fruition of once-returning (sakadāgāmiphala)? P. Yes. S. If the attenuation of sensual lust and ill will was declared by the Blessed One to be the fruition of once-returning, then indeed it should not be said: "All fetters (saññojana) are abandoned by the path of Arahantship."
