[1095] P.: Should it not be said, "The four truths (sacca) are unconditioned (asaṅkhata)"?
S.: Yes.
P.: But was it not said by the Blessed One: "Bhikkhus, these four are real (tatha), not unreal (avitatha), not otherwise (anaññatha). Which four? 'This is suffering (dukkha)' — this, bhikkhus, is real, this is not unreal, this is not otherwise … 'This is the origin of suffering (dukkhasamudaya)' … 'This is the cessation of suffering (dukkhanirodha)' … 'This is the way of practice leading to the cessation of suffering (dukkhanirodhagāminī paṭipadā)' — this is real, this is not unreal, this is not otherwise. These, bhikkhus, are the four that are real, not unreal, not otherwise"? Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
S.: Yes.
P.: Then the four truths are unconditioned.
