[1133] [S.] Eye-consciousness (cakkhuviññāṇa) … mind-consciousness (manoviññāṇa) — into the reckoning of which aggregate (khandha) does it go?
[P.] It goes into the reckoning of the aggregate of consciousness (viññāṇakkhandha).
[S.] If mind-consciousness goes into the reckoning of the aggregate of consciousness, then indeed, good sir, you should say: "Mind-consciousness is included by the aggregate of consciousness."
[P.] Just as two oxen are included [tied together] by a tether or by a rope, as almsfood is included [suspended] by a carrying-sling, and as a dog is included [held] by a leash — even so those phenomena (dhammā) are included by those phenomena.
[S.] If two oxen are included [tied together] by a tether or by a rope, if almsfood is included [suspended] by a carrying-sling, and if a dog is included [held] by a leash, then indeed, good sir, you should say: "There are some phenomena that are included by some phenomena."
