[1141] "Should it not be said: 'Giving (dāna) is a mental phenomenon (cetasika dhamma)'?" — "Yes."
"But was it not said by the Blessed One:
'Faith (saddhā), moral shame (hiri), and wholesome giving —
these are things (dhammā) followed by good persons (sappurisa);
for this, they say, is the divine path,
for by this one goes to the heavenly world (devaloka)'
— is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?" — "Yes."
"Well then, giving is a mental phenomenon."
