[1193] [Sakavādin:] Are there six destinations (gati)? [Paravādin:] Yes. [Sakavādin:] But were not five destinations spoken of by the Blessed One: hell (niraya), the animal kingdom (tiracchānayoni), the realm of hungry ghosts (pittivisaya), humans, and gods (devā)? [Paravādin:] Yes. [Sakavādin:] If five destinations were spoken of by the Blessed One — hell, the animal kingdom, the realm of hungry ghosts, humans, and gods — then surely, good sir, it should not be said: "There are six destinations."
