[1235] Sakavādin: Does form (rūpa) exist among the formless (arūpa)? Paravādin: Yes. S. Is it a form existence (rūpabhava), a form destination (rūpagati), a form abode of beings (rūpasattāvāsa), a form saṃsāra (rūpasaṃsāra), a form mode of generation (rūpayoni), an acquisition of form individuality (rūpattabhāvapaṭilābha)? P. It should not be said thus. … S. Is it not a formless existence, a formless destination, a formless abode of beings, a formless saṃsāra, a formless mode of generation, an acquisition of formless individuality? P. Yes. S. If it is a formless existence … an acquisition of formless individuality, then indeed it should not be said, "Form exists among the formless."
