[1320] [P.] Should it not be said that a fetter (saññojana) has the Deathless (amata) as its object (ārammaṇa)?
[S.] Yes.
[P.] But was it not said by the Blessed One: "He perceives Nibbāna as Nibbāna; having perceived Nibbāna as Nibbāna, he conceives Nibbāna, he conceives in Nibbāna, he conceives from Nibbāna, he conceives Nibbāna to be 'mine,' he delights in Nibbāna"?¹ — does such a discourse (suttanta) indeed exist?
[S.] Yes.
[P.] Then indeed a fetter has the Deathless as its object.
