[1353] S.: "Is every mind (citta) attended by thought-conception (vitakka)?" P.: "Yes." S.: "Is there not a concentration (samādhi) that is without thought-conception, with discursive thought (vicāra) only?" P.: "Yes." S.: "If there is a concentration that is without thought-conception, with discursive thought only, then indeed, good sir, it should not be said: 'Every mind is attended by thought-conception.'"
