[1387] [Sakavādin:] For one endowed with the five consciousnesses (pañcaviññāṇa-samaṅgī) there is development of the path (magga-bhāvanā)?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[Sakavādin:] Is it not the case that the five consciousnesses have bases (vatthu) that have arisen and objects (ārammaṇa) that have arisen?
[Paravādin:] Yes.
[Sakavādin:] If the five consciousnesses have bases that have arisen and objects that have arisen, then indeed, good sir, you should not say: "For one endowed with the five consciousnesses there is development of the path."
