[1427] [Paravādin:] Is it not to be said that virtue (sīla) that has undertaking (samādāna) as its cause grows? [Sakavādin:] Yes. [Paravādin:] But was it not said by the Blessed One: "Planters of parks, planters of groves, … established in the Dhamma, endowed with virtue, those people go to heaven (sagga)" — is there not indeed such a discourse (suttanta)? [Sakavādin:] Yes. [Paravādin:] Then, indeed, virtue that has undertaking as its cause grows.
