[1426] S. Does virtue (sīla) that has undertaking (samādāna) as its cause grow?
P. Yes.
S. For one who, having undertaken virtue, is thinking a thought of sensual pleasures (kāma-vitakka), thinking a thought of ill will (byāpāda-vitakka), thinking a thought of harming (vihiṃsā-vitakka) — does virtue grow?
P. Yes.
S. Is there a combination of two contacts (phassa) … of two minds (citta)?
P. It should not be said so. …

S. Do phenomena (dhammā) that are wholesome and unwholesome, blameworthy and blameless, inferior and superior, dark and bright with their opposing counterparts, come face to face?
P. It should not be said so. …

S. Was it not said by the Blessed One: "Bhikkhus, there are these four things extremely far apart. Which four? The sky, bhikkhus, and the earth — this is the first pair extremely far apart. … Therefore the dhamma of the good is far from the bad" — is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
P. Yes.
S. Then it should not be said that phenomena that are wholesome and unwholesome, blameworthy and blameless, inferior and superior, dark and bright with their opposing counterparts, come face to face.
