P. But was it not said by the Blessed One: "'The world is eternal,' Vaccha — this is undeclared (abyākata); 'the world is not eternal,' Vaccha — this is undeclared; 'the world is finite,' Vaccha, …; 'the world is infinite,' Vaccha, …; 'the soul (jīva) and the body are the same,' Vaccha, …; 'the soul is one thing, the body another,' Vaccha, …; 'the Tathāgata exists after death,' Vaccha, …; 'the Tathāgata does not exist after death,' Vaccha, …; 'the Tathāgata both exists and does not exist after death,' Vaccha, …; 'the Tathāgata neither exists nor does not exist after death,' Vaccha — this is undeclared"? Is there indeed such a discourse (suttanta)?
S. Yes.
P. Well then, a speculative view is indeterminate.
