P. Is it not to be said, "The person (puggala) is apprehended in a real and ultimate sense (sacchikaṭṭha-paramaṭṭhena)"?
S. Yes.
P. But is there not a Stream-Enterer (sotāpanna)?
S. Yes.
P. If there is a Stream-Enterer, then indeed, good sir, it must be said, "The person is apprehended in a real and ultimate sense."
P. Is it not to be said, "The person is apprehended in a real and ultimate sense"?
S. Yes.
P. But is there not a Once-Returner (sakadāgāmī)? … Is there not a Non-Returner (anāgāmī)? … Is there not an Arahant (arahā)? … Is there not one liberated in both ways (ubhatobhāgavimutta)? Is there not one liberated by wisdom (paññāvimutta)? Is there not a body-witness (kāyasakkhī)? Is there not one attained to right view (diṭṭhippatta)? Is there not one liberated by faith (saddhāvimutta)? Is there not a truth-devotee (dhammānusārī)? Is there not a faith-devotee (saddhānusārī)?
S. Yes.
P. If there is a faith-devotee, then indeed, good sir, it must be said, "The person is apprehended in a real and ultimate sense."
